On Tuesday, February 10th, the Fair Grove boys’ basketball team played the Pleasant Hope Pirates and increased their win total yet again. Fair Grove beat Pleasant Hope by a total of 16 points and the final score was 75 to 59. The Eagles are now on an 11 game win streak and are 19-5 on this season. With only a few games left this season, which include conference games between Marionville and Strafford, the Eagles are on their way to close the season well.

Fair Grove started off the game slow and for the first quarter the game stayed relatively close. It wasn’t until late second quarter and the second half that the Eagles started to pull away.

Kyle Cavanaugh said, “We started to move the ball around better and our offense just started to flow.” The Eagles offense did start to flow and by the end of the game Cavanaugh had scored 15 points.

Zane McCurry scored 21 points which included six three pointers. Evan Fullerton scored 19 points as well to lead the Eagles in the post. The Eagles proved to be a force shutting down Pleasant Hope. However, Jordan Hillenburg did manage to put up 27 points against the Eagles.

Fair Grove will play Marionville on February 13th at home. The Eagles will be in for a challenge as they enter districts shortly after their final regular season game against Strafford on February 20th.

Evan Fullerton said, “We’ve played hard every game.” Fullerton says the Eagles have managed to keep their 11 game win streak by continuing to work as a team and not being coneited about their success this season. The Eagles have been on a hot streak lately and hope to continue that in their next two games, especially the game against the longtime rivals: the Strafford Indians.
