Finishing out the regular season, the Fair Grove boys basketball team led with a 20-6 record. The team was runner up in the Mid Lakes Conference, winning a total of five games played against Ash Grove, Pleasant Hope, Marionville, Skyline, and Stockton and only losing to Strafford. The boys also competed for finals in two of three regular season tournaments, coming out with a win at the Sparta Tournament at the end of January.

Head coach, Tim Brown, said that the teams goals at the start of the season were to win 20 games, compete for the championship in tournaments, and win a conference championship. When the regular season came to a close, the team was able to fulfill the 20 wins as well as competing for the championship in tournaments and even winning one of the tournaments. Although they didn’t win a conference championship, Brown commented that the team was able to put themselves in a position to compete for the conference championship, finishing as runner up. Junior Kyle Cavanaugh commented that the teams regular season went really well overall. “We were unable to claim a conference win over Strafford, only losing by 8, but our teamwork was really good and we became a brotherhood”, Cavanaugh said.

On February 24th, the Fair Grove boys basketball team competed against Pleasant Hope in the first round of districts, coming out with a win with an ending score of 83-50. The district semifinals took place on February 26th and the Fair Grove boys took the win against Conway with an ending score of 80-65. Monday, February 2nd, the boys lost to Strafford in the district championships, with an ending score of 65-45.

“Our most memorable games are always our home games in front of our awesome fans and Mid Lake Conference games”, Brown commented reflecting back on the overall season. With the Eagles only losing one starter from this year’s lineup, the team will look to build on their success this year for the future years to come.
