Fair Grove Golf Team Putts Up a New Season
March 26, 2015
The Fair Grove Golf Team has started off their year working hard, swinging into the new season. The team has spent the pre-season gearing up for this season’s tournaments. Bryan Tucker, the Eagles Head Golf Coach, says he is really proud of the golf team this year to see so many of the players opening up their schedules and making the time and effort to practice in the pre-season.
“While there hasn’t been too many changes for the players to practice the past few months, many started practicing last summer as well as put in a whole week of hard work in the fall,” Coach Tucker says, “We have been working as team encouraging each other to do well so we can reach our big overall goal to better our individual putting techniques as well as our short game.”
Emily Derrick (11) comments saying how everyone has put in more effort this year to better their golfing skills as a whole. “We have all been going out to the driving range and making it our main goal to improve our putting form, understand the basics of golf, and hopefully before the season starts we will be able to hit the ball straight! As far as any personal goals I have I am just hoping to not get dead last at every tournament, and to improve even more from last year.”
With an equal amount of five varsity players and five junior varsity players who have decided to come out and play golf this year, the team is really hoping for a better turnaround from last year’s season. If Tucker could have anything happen this year it would be for them to have at least a few players qualify for sectionals, he comments.
The golf team is currently preparing for their first tournament in Branson at the end of March.
