Elementary Box Tops for Education
March 23, 2015
The Fair Grove Elementary school is able to earn money by collecting box tops from General Mills and other participating products. Though these funds are separate from the schools yearly funds, they are still used for any supplies the school may need. This year, the elementary is hoping to get enough funds to buy new chromebooks for the school.
Each box top is worth ten cents and the school is able to collect up to a maximum of twenty thousand dollars a year. Students can bring in box tops and turn them in either to the elementary office, or the students may give them to their teachers.
The elementary usually has a goal for about five hundred dollars for the school year, but this year they have far exceeded that goal. “Just this year the school has earned over a thousand dollars,” Pam McCarty, the elementary secretary states, “We really encourage students to turn in Box Tops. Each Box Top is worth ten cents; even though that is a small amount, it really adds up. Checks are mailed quarterly, and our last check was for $866.70!”
Both the middle and elementary schools are collecting box tops, though they are doing it separately. Each school has their own coordinator who fills out the submission forms and sends in the box tops. This is an easy and convenient way for the school to earn extra money for supplies during the school year.
