Where Are They Now: Alyssah Orr
October 6, 2015
Alyssah Orr, one of Fair Grove’s valedictorian’s, and Student Body President, graduated in 2014. Attending Evangel, Orr is a sophomore now, and studying Secondary English Education as a major, and has minors in Spanish. After college Orr doesn’t know exactly what to do, but she is contemplating whether to teach a year in a foreign county, or attend grad school.
Orr has had a very eventful couple of years since she graduated back in 2014. Orr went on a trip to Spain with Evangel’s Speech and Debate team, and has also visited Ecuador on a missions trip. When she went on the mission trip to Ecuador she played soccer with some of the children, and taught them the word of God. Orr has also worked for a month at a camp for inner city youth. Orr is now a part of Evangel’s track and soccer team.
Evangel has a new soccer program this year. Orr stated,” We have steadily improved, but we most likely won’t win any games anytime soon. It reminds me a lot of our first year of soccer at Fair Grove.” Orr is playing soccer with her old teammate from Fair Grove, Jessie O’Neal. “Playing with a former teammate is awesome! Jessie is also my roommate, which is pretty rad.” quoted Orr. Sadly, Orr sustained an injury and missed a few of the early weeks of the season, but has now returned and is getting a fair amount of playtime.
The transition from high school to college may be difficult for some people. Orr is a little homesick for her home town and misses many things. “ I miss my coaches, and the family feel with the teams that I was a part of, as well as the entire community.” Orr stated. Orr was involved in the soccer, volleyball, and track team throughout her high school career.
With a passion for mission trips, track, and soccer, it looks like Alyssah Orr will have a lot going on in the near future.
