An End to the Hunger Games Movie Trilogy

So I went to see Mockingjay Part 2 this past weekend, and let me tell you, it’s insane in the IMAX. There were a lot of explosions (I try not to think about the last few) and really cool scenes that stood out to me. For those of you who read the books, I appreciate you. I know that you were probably on the edge of your seats like I was when the mutts came and when the parachutes dropped, because we were the only ones who knew what was going to happen.
The story picks up where Part 1 left off, and leads on to Katniss and her team of previous victors in her attempt to assassinate President Snow. On the way they have to dodge multiple pods (traps set up by Snow), and peacemakers. Coin, the leader of District 13, also plays a huge role in this movie, as she is in charge of the troops from District 13. This movie held the same faces as the three previous movies, with Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, and several others.

For those of you who have already seen the movie, you know what I mean when I say that there was a lot of buildup in certain scenes that made you jump and look like an idiot, but I’m pretty sure everyone did. For those of you who haven’t seen it, which is probably why you’re reading this review, it’s worth it. I honestly thought that this movie portrayed the novel more closely than the other three, as it kept with the same loss in characters (I won’t say who, but trust me it’s heartbreaking) and followed a good portion of the plot well. The other three did this, but not as closely as this one, I felt. (Except for Madge in the first one. I will never get over that). For those of you who don’t have the books to compare it to, you might be a little disappointed, because your expectations might not be met. For me as well as many others, we had something to compare it to, and the movie met my standards through the books, but I would still recommend it to everyone. (Except for those parents who bring their five year olds to violent movies like this one. You are the worst.)

In a nutshell, I’d say this movie was my favorite of the four, and I would recommend it to adults and teens who have either read the books or have seen the previous three movies. I extremely liked Mockingjay, real or not real? Real. 8/10.
