Fair Grove Community Gathers to Hear Ozark Mountain Daredevils
January 11, 2017
On October 16th, Fair Grove community members gathered in the Upper Elementary Gym to see Randle Chowning and Larry Lee, original members of Ozark Mountain Daredevils, joined by local guitarist, David Wilson perform an acoustic guitar show.
Fair Grove native and Fair Grove High School graduate, Shawn Love, set up the event for the community. He said he wanted the citizens of Fair Grove to have a chance to see a couple of legendary recording artists play and have the opportunity to talk with all three performers.
Many people attended the show. Shawn Love said, “The crowd was a perfect size for a small intimate acoustic show, and there’s no question that the crowd appreciated seeing and hearing two rock and roll legends!’’
The show was also a great opportunity for the community as a whole. Hilltop Pizza and The Fair Grove Quarterback Club helped out by promoting and selling tickets beforehand. The Fair Grove Quarterback Club also raffled off a guitar signed by Chowning and Lee. All three performers said the performance could not have gone better. Chowning, Founder of Ozark Mountain Daredevils, said, “It was wonderful to see such kind people really listening and enjoying the music.”
Ozark Mountain Daredevils started in Springfield and both Chowning and Lee have been inducted into the Missouri Writers Hall of Fame.
