The Fair Grove middle school volleyball season is starting up again. Practices started in late August for the young ladies. There will be around 12 8th graders and 9 7th graders playing this year. This will be a total of 21 players altogether on the team.

Although losing the incoming freshmen, Fair Grove still has a lot of key athletes to work with. Head coach, Lyndsey Martin, comments, “We have all of our 8th graders coming back from last year, and have also added some new faces as well.” The main goals for the Eagles this season is to compete in every game and grow in volleyball fundamentals. Macey Macatee, 8th grade, exclaims, “I’m excited for the this year’s season to start.” Macey is an all around player for the team and is hopeful for what the future holds for Fair Grove.

During the offseason the girls played on rec/club teams. They also attended camps all throughout the summer. Ms. Martin, adds, “I think we have grown a bit, and I’m excited to see the results!” One of the biggest games of the year for the eagles is against their rivals the Strafford Indians. Most of the teams Fair Grove will be versing are local conference schools such as Ash Grove, Pleasant Hope, Marionville, etc… Ms. Martin states, “Every team in our conference is going to be a strong competition for us so every game is important to us.” The team motto for this year is to “work hard, be encouraging, and beat Strafford.”

The volleyball girls will play a total of 11 season games, and they will also be attending one tournament at Pleasant Hope. The first game for the Eagles will be held at home against Ash Grove. The starting time will be at 5:30pm on Thursday September, 7th.
