Eagles Fall To Rival Stafford: Play-By-Play Notes from the Game

Eagle’s Offensive Line clears way for the attack.

The Eagles start off the game with great energy and a fast tempo. At about 7:09 left in the first quarter Elijah Young (11) of the Fair Grove Eagles scored the first touchdown of the night to put the Eagles on top to start the game! To start off the Eagle defense Isaac Maudlin (12) gets an interception. Immediately after the Eagles offense lost some of their energy and Strafford got the ball back to try and get some points on the board.

At the beginning of second quarter with 11:57 left the Strafford Indians come at the Eagles with their first touchdown of the night tying the score 6-6. Strafford then dominated against the Eagles in the 2nd quarter and scored another touchdown to grab the lead from the Eagles. Quickly after the Eagles started their offense Wyatt Maples (11) got an interception and scored a touchdown to make the score 18-6. The two point conversion was good which ended the half with a 20-6 lead by the Indians.

Coming back into the half the Indians come out with some fire to top onto their lead with another touchdown at 10:49 in the start to the 3rd quarter. While also making the field goal the Indians bring the score up to a 21 point lead. The 3rd quarter ended with a 27-6 score as the Eagles started to realize the hole they have made for themselves.

For the start of the fourth quarter the Indians kept their lead and continued to shut down the Eagle offense. At 7:44 the Eagles threw another interception for the Indians which lead to another touchdown for Strafford. The Indians then having a lead by 24. The game ended with the Indians taking the win with a 34-6 victory.

“There are definitely many things our offense and defense need to work on, but the only thing we can do now is gain some momentum and win our next game,” says Hunter Maxwell (12), starting linebacker for the Fair Grove Eagles.

The Eagles’ next game is at home vs the Marionville Comets on Friday September 29th.
