On Friday December, 1 Fair Grove went to the finals of their very own Invitational tournament. After playing on Tuesday against Monett and after playing on Thursday against Rogersville and beating them both, they made it to finals where they took down the Clever Bluejays.

The Lady Eagles have prepared for these games by practicing every day, working on fundamentals, and team concepts. The five starters for Fair Grove is Taylor Bell, (12), Harley Maxwell, (11), Lexie Sutherland, (11), Alana Findley, (11), and Maddie Clark, (10). Taylor Bell, (12), comments, “The tournament went really well. As a team we worked hard and played together, and I’m excited to see how we perform as the season goes on.” The final score of the Fair Grove and Clever game was 51-47. Mrs. Talbert, head basketball coach, states, “Every girl played a vital role for us to win the tournament. Cydney Fullerton, (11), came in and played great defense, Alexus Rust, (11), handled the ball and organized our offense, Bailee Morgan, (10), gave us a lift when we got into foul trouble, and Jordan Coddington, (12), was also a steady player for us.”

Along with winning the home tournament Alana Findley, Fair Grove starter, scored her 1000th point in the Clever game. After the team was given their first place trophy Alana was recognized at the end of the game for her accomplishment.

Alana Findley, (11), exclaims, “It was a surprise because I didn’t even know I was close so when they announced it, it was an awesome feeling.” Her stats stand on average 28.8 points per game, 11.4 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, 4.4 steals per game, and 1.8 blocks per game. During the championship game Alana scored 31 points for the Eagles. Mrs. Talbert says, “It’s great that she got her 1000th point only 4 games into her junior year, but more than anything I was proud of how as she battled in each of our games. She does so much that might not show up in the stat sheet and those things are what make her such a complete player.” Alana Findley, comments, “I look forward to playing in the Pink and White at Dury because it’s such a nice gym and a fun experience.”

The girl’s record right now is 5-0. Their next game will be a home game on Monday, December, 11th against Mt Vernon.
