Talbert To Head Coach Rogersville Football
March 29, 2018
Assistant coach, Mark Talbert, recently got the head football coaching job at Logan-Rogersville. He has been coaching football for 11 years now and 10 of those years were spent at Fair Grove.
Out of 40 applicants that applied for the job it was eventually narrowed down to 5. Mr. Talbert comments, “I was nervous and excited at the same time about getting the call. It is a big step for me and my family. This will put both of us as head coaches in separate districts. It is not something we take lightly.” Mrs. Talbert, head coach of the girls basketball team, will be continuing her coaching career at Fair Grove.
Over the past years Mr. Talbert has taught middle school social studies and middle school and high school physical education. He has also taken on the role as the districts assistant technology director. For the past four years has been the Eagles defensive coordinator.
Mr. Talbert said, “I hope to go in an turn a program into a tough football team that adopts a never quit mentality.” Mr. Stallings, Fair Grove’s principal, states, “Mr. Talbert has been a great friend, teacher and employee for our district. His leaving certainly leaves a small hole in our hearts but we couldn’t be any happier for him. I know that this has been an important career goal for Mr. Talbert and it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see his dream realized. We wish him the absolute best and will be rooting for his success on Friday nights next year and the years to come as he leads the Logan-Rogersville football program.” Next fall Mr. Talbert will be coaching the Wildcats, and the Fair Grove administration, staff, and community wishes him all the best.
