Every year, multiple fundraisers are held by the PTO to help support the Fair Grove R-X School District. The most recent of these was the Write-A-Check Fundraiser, which lasted from October 8-19. As the name suggests, the basis of the fundraiser is that donors to the school write a check and send it in, typically with their kids.

This is the third year that this fundraiser has been done; however, it has been a couple years since it has last taken place. Parents are the primary benefactors, since donating for them is as simple as writing a check to the school and sending it to school with their child. Headlining the fundraiser on the PTO side is Jennifer Harp, Secretary of the PTO. Concerning the end objective of the fundraiser, Mrs. Harp said, “Our goal is $3000 in the Elementary, this is consistent with our goal in the past.  We are well on our way to meeting our goal this year!” They tried to make the fundraiser fun for the students also, with extra rewards for every three hundred dollars raised such as extra recess time and dodge ball at PE. Additionally, she stated that, “The Middle School is also participating with the grades competing to raise the most money.  Both buildings will get to “pie” their principal if they meet their fundraising goal.”

The money raised by the fundraiser is used for a wide variety of things throughout the school district. “All money raised goes to our gifts to school, teacher hospitality and our community events. This year PTO bought things like smart boards, new books for the Elementary and Middle School libraries and funded Lego Club,”stated Mrs. Harp.

In total the Write-A-Check Fundraiser raised four thousand and twenty five dollars for the Fair Grove School District, so benefactors and students alike can rest easy that their money will lead to improvements throughout the schools.
