On May 13th the Fair Grove baseball team lost to Ava in the second round of districts. Districts were held at Fair Grove this year from the 13th to the 15th. Ava went on to win districts beating Strafford, five to three.

The team practiced hard and made sure they were in it as a team going into districts explained, senior, Dylan Long. Fair Grove left districts losing to Ava 4-1. “We watched too many first pitch strikes go by and we needed to swing the bats a little more,” said Long. Fair Grove got first seed allowing them to skip the first round. “Although we fell short of our goal of winning a district championship, our team played hard the entire season and I am very proud of them,” stated Head Coach, Christian Overstreet

This season the baseball team was the Mid-Lakes Champions Conference Champs and had been undefeated prior to districts. They had 19 wins this season. That means they beat the Fair Grove single seasons win record. Senior, Rhett Hill, voiced, “The team is close like a family and it has been super fun.”

Overstreet said their biggest strength was their team chemistry. He explained, “Our team really enjoys being around one another and you can tell by watching them play.”

As the season comes to a close the team is losing five seniors, Dylan Long (catcher), Cayden Stacey (right field), Rhett Hill (pitcher), Josh Thompson (centerfield), and Austin Sisco (first base). Overstreet said, “They are a special group and are not going to be easy to replace. However, we do have a good mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen returning next year who will do great things for our team.”
