Mad Hatter’s Tea Party #4

Erin Blevins

Welcome back, my crazy tea friends. Stay in your seats, because this week I did something a little bit different. Every week I have given you guys a review over boba tea, and it’s all kind of the same thing. Primarily different flavors, but not really about different types of tea. So, this week I went to Mudhouse, a coffee shop in downtown Springfield.

Mudhouse has lots of different types of coffee, espresso drinks, and food. This is a place where you walk in to a dark and earthy vibe; it doesn’t have a bright look, but it’s still very comforting and welcoming. Some would say it’s even down to earth, but it’s mainly a hangout for college students. A lot of the time you see people working on the computer, reading, or just talking to friends.

I go to Mudhouse quite a bit, and have probably ingested way too much of their caffeine. I normally buy is the mudpuddle, which is basically a caramel frappuccino. It’s a cold drink, but is super sweet and always really good. My favorite thing to get is the Jitterbug, which is an espresso frappuccino and has espresso bits in the drink. If you are a caffeine sensitive person that is already full of energy and want to your friends consider homicide, this is the perfect drink for you.

This trip I decided to get two new drinks. The first one being a hot coffee, which I normally don’t drink a lot of. I ordered a caramel latte; you may want to stir this drink just to make sure the caramel is mixed and you don’t get straight foam. Even though it messes up the pretty design on the drink, it’s worth it. The second thing I ordered is the happy hippy smoothie, which is made of soy milk, banana, blueberry, and honey. It is a royal purple drink that has a super fresh taste. It is sweet and has a really good flavor.

Overall, I love Mudhouse. It’s not really a tea place, but it’s a super fun hangout with really good drinks and great company.
