Monett Motor Speedway
February 26, 2020
Monett Motor Speedway, also known as “The Grand Ol’ Lady”, is said to be the oldest dirt track in Missouri. This ⅜ mile track that has an 11 degree dank was opened in 1970 and has run every race season since then. Championship point series racing features Late Models, USRA B-Mods, Midwest Mods, Legends, and Pure Stocks.
This is a track that I have been to very little, but the racing there was good and so was the service. My dad is a current dirt track racer, and many years ago he raced Pure Stocks at Monett Motor Speedway. He’s always said that he enjoys racing on that track due to it tight corners and the degree of the bank. It’s a fast track and definitely not for the faint of heart.
They have a very nice set of bleachers on the front stretch that leads into the corners. There is no seating on the back stretch of the track, which has proved to be the safest area in my opinion, due to different cars hitting or running into that back stretch wall. Admission is: General Seating Adults – $15.00, 18 and under get in free, Pit Passes – $35.00, 5 and under – $15.00.
Monett’s test and tune day for any dirt car will be on April 4th, and their 50th Season Opener will be on April 11th.
