The Fair Grove High school is hosting their 2023-2024 homecoming on September 29th, 2023. This year the theme for the game and the dance do not match, but there is a special reason for that.
The theme for the homecoming football game is White Out to “Wipe Out Cancer” in support of Dr. Hollan’s battle against Pancreatic Cancer. The theme for the dance is GlowCo, so bright colors such as yellow, neon green, and much more.
The freshman princess, Madi Morris (9), said why she was so happy to be nominated, “I am mainly looking forward to walking down the field in my dress and taking pictures with my friends.” She then added, “ I was very shocked to hear my name be called over the intercom, I was not expecting it.”
The sophomore princess, Lizzy Taylor (10), explained what she is excited about,“Something I am looking forward to at homecoming is getting to dress up and walk on the field because I think that will be so fun and take pictures with my friends and family.” Taylor is proud to be nominated for homecoming princess as she had been picked twice last year for princess but did not get the title.
The Junior princess, Sophia Brumfield (11), explained how her excitement is different from some of the other princesses, “I am super excited to ride in the parade with the rest of the court and I am excited for the actual dance.” However, Brumfield said she is nervous for the walk, with many eyes watching her and many people being there.
One senior queen candidate, Faith Klindworth (12), said that being nominated for homecoming court feels really great. She said that she is excited to walk with two of her bestfriends on the field. “Being shocked to hear my name is an understatement, I was beyond excited,” Klindworth explained.
She also feels that being queen is a huge thing to have, she said, “This is definitely a huge title to carry, knowing that people are looking at you and up to you all the time comes with a lot of responsibility to represent Fair Grove and my class well!” Klindworth said that being homecoming queen is something that she’ll remember for the rest of her life.
As the princesses and queen nominees walk, the community will get to hear their joys and aspirations for life. At the end of the ceremony there will be one queen crowned and the homecoming football game will commence. Following the game will be hours of dancing for the high school students to end the epic night.
