Fair Grove High School Football has been continuing their 2023 season undefeated. They have a record of 7-0, their most recent game being against Buffalo where they finished with another win.
Football is more than just the sport for many of the athletes that play. Gabriel McMains (12) expressed that his favorite things about playing football are that, “I love the team and environment. I think football wouldn’t be the same on any other team.” Kolton Stevens (12) added, “I enjoy the atmosphere of football more than anything. In football you feel like a family more than any other sport that I have played. I enjoy having that type of brotherhood and family.”
Some of the football players have set their own personal goals this season, as well as overall team goals. Gage Bailey (10) explained, “…my goal is to improve on my line back skills. I just have to keep watching film and working hard.” Bailey went on, “I think/hope we will have an undefeated season, and we have a really good chance at winning a district championship and state title.”
Stevens explained, “Last year I tore my ACL completely in half, so my main goal is to be able to come back from that injury and play to the level I was at last year. I’m still not quite where I was, but I’m working on building strength in my quad to do so.”
Fair Grove Football wants to continue working and playing hard. Stevens also said, “This season has been a success so far, but we can’t be content with what we’ve done so far. We still have to work just as hard for each game and keep working to achieve what we want to achieve.”
Not only does the team work hard, but also diligently. McMains stated, “…We practice hard everyday and have amazing coaches. We just want to take it week by week. We focus on one week at a time.”
The team’s last regular season game will be on October 20th against El Dorado Springs at Fair Grove, after this they will enter district play.
