Fellow Christian Athletes of Fair Grove High School gather on Thursday mornings, around 7:15 am in the gym. The members get together, share their personal testimonies, and include athletic fun while doing so.
FCA is led by both Coach Reed and Tucker. The club brings together Christians of Fair Grove High School to share personal sermons and talk about their faith. The club hosts sports activities for the students to bond and create faithful relations.
Nolen Geitz (11) described what FCA is, and what happens during the club by saying, “FCA is a group for anybody. Whether you are a Christian, or just interested in being one, you can get together and bond with other Christians at our school, and learn more about God.”
Geitz continued to talk about who speaks at the club, and who has already spoken during the club. “A student speaks every week, and somebody new will volunteer every week. Oakland Wayne and Jared have both spoken twice so far. The messages are how we can make an impact in others lives, how we can bring others closer to God, and how we can grow in our faith.”
Every year, in the beginning of the school year, the FCA group prays around the school flagpole, calling this the, “Meet Me at The Pole,” where the club will pray for the school, and everyone involved to start the school year off with prayer.
Brooke Daniels (11) describes the messages of each sermon that is expressed in, “Messages can serve many purposes such as motivation, factual, or just informational.” Daniels explained, “My favorite thing is getting to share my story, and listen to how much God has impacted other people’s lives.”
In addition, Brock Boatwright (11) also described his favorite thing about FCA as well, “My favorite thing in FCA is hearing different people every week speak about their experiences and learning the lesson of their speech… and Mr. Tucker and Mr. Reed bring donuts.”
Abbey Green (11) shared, “I’ve been going to church a lot, and have been serving at my church. I am soon talking to the middle school FCA to share my story about God and how it has impacted me.”
Green continued to talk about how FCA is important, “FCA brings the future generations closer to God, and allows us to learn about everyone’s experiences, bringing the entire community together that partakes in this club, and who are also interested in Christianity.”
Shea Skouby (11) added, “FCA is important to me because it brings people together, into a whole different level of spirituality. Everyone becomes vulnerable in this club, in an extremely good way.”
Occasionally, Coach Reed and Coach Tucker will bring donuts, after the FCA activities. The club meets on Thursday mornings, at 7:15 am. All students are welcome and many are in line to share their story and encourage others to do the same.
