Each month, the Fair Grove Elementary School hosts an assembly called Eagle Elite in the upper gym that allows students in grades Pre-K through 4th to receive awards for being elite students.
The Eagle Elite Assembly is hosted in order to reward one student in each classroom, grades Pre-K through 4th grade, with a certificate rewarding their good behaviors. Those chosen students are referred to as Eagle Elites, and to be an Eagle Elite means the student maintains good attendance, a hard working attitude, and shares kindness.
The assembly was started last year by the Fair Grove Elementary Assistant Principal, Ryan Buffington. The assemblies were started in an effort to try their best and be good friends with one another. He begins the assemblies by giving a small speech, and then allows the teachers to say a few words about their students before introducing the winners of the awards.
Toni Robertson, a Fair Grove preschool teacher, commented on the Eagle Elite Assemblies and program by saying, “I feel Eagle Elite encourages students to have good attendance, try their best, and to be a good friend.” She continued to discuss what she personally enjoys the most about the assemblies, “I feel the students enjoy cheering on their peers who receive the Eagle Elite.”
During the Eagle Elite Assembly, the Fair Grove High School Band plays various pep songs, such as the songs performed at football games. The drumline also performs their cadences. The band has been attending the assemblies since April in 2023, and plan to continue to attend in the future. Liam Draper (12), a Drum Major of the Fair Grove High School Band stated, “The thing I enjoy the most about performing at eagle elite is getting to see how excited the kids get when they see the band.”
Along with the band performing, the Fair Grove Varsity Cheerleaders also attend to dance and perform their competition routine prior to the assembly starting. The cheerleaders attended their first Eagle Elite Assembly in October 2023. Aubrie Voorhis (9) performed at her first Eagle Elite Assembly on October 20, and stated, “I enjoyed the Eagle Elite because I saw all the kids so excited when they got the award but when they didn’t, they were happy for their friends.”
The next Eagle Elite Assembly will be held in the upper elementary gym each month where more Eagle Elites will be awarded for their good behaviors. The event is open to parents and guardians.
