The Fair Grove High School Football Coach, Bill Voorhis, achieved his 100th career win on October 20 following the win against El Dorado Springs.
Coach Voorhis has been coaching and helping the Eagles since 2014. He has bonded and shown the students how to grow. Defensive lineman, Gabe McMains (12), said, “I think Coach Voorhis has done a tremendous job and he helped me be a great player but also a great person.”
Voorhis won his 100th game on October 20, 2023, following the game against the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs. The game was won with a score of 57-8.
According to Assistant Football Coach, Jeremy Faubion, “Coach Voorhis receives great support from our administration, school staff, as well as his family at home.”
Dedicated to improving and growing from the previous season, Coach Faubion stated, “We are more experienced this year, and we have a team as dedicated as any I have seen here. Right now, that has led to an undefeated regular season, as well as a conference and district championship.”
Coach Voorhis has been on the football scene for quite some time. Voorhis said, “This is my 10th year here. It’s my 15th year coaching total, and my 12th year as a head coach. To get to this point it has taken a lot of good assistant coaches and good athletes.”
Voorhis is impressed with the progress the Eagles have made this season. Coach Voorhis stated, “I haven’t won a district championship in the past 11 years. The last time I won a district championship was in 2012. 12 wins is for sure the most I’ve had in a season.”
Coach Voorhis has taken the players under his wing. Faubion said, “Coach Voorhis has had a positive impact on this district, and the lessons taught in the football program strive to create better young men later in their lives. He genuinely cares for his players as if they were his own sons.”
Many different people have been instrumental in getting Voorhis to his 100th career win. Coach Voorhis stated, “Like I said, the assistant coaches have been really important. Coach Faubion, Buffington, Holt, Thomas, and Zanzie for sure come to mind.”
Leading them through a successful season, Coach Voorhis concluded this season with an undefeated regular season record of 10–0 and an overall record of 12-1. Voorhis and his team secured the title of District Champions, along with continuing to their last game in the Final Four against Valie Catholic.
