Behind the scenes at Fair Grove schools, the custodians are putting in their hard work to make the environment as welcoming as possible.
At Fair Grove High School, the custodians work so that the school can be a well functioning place while being a good environment for students. Custodian Stella Faucett stated, “I like the family atmosphere at Fair Grove.” Faucett later said that she works here for her kids who graduated from Fair Grove.
Custodian Zella Line commented, “I really just like keeping things at the schools clean.” The custodians at Fair Grove High School are hard workers that want to get their job to be done well.
Every custodian has a different work schedule at the school. Along with working throughout the school year, they also have to work during the summer to keep up with sports and maintenance of the schools.
Line stated, “I am a night custodian so I work 3:30 to midnight, if there are events happening on the weekend, the custodians take turns.”
Faucett stated, “I arrive in the morning at seven and I clean the FEMA area and then the library.” She later mentioned, “Then the cafeteria and check bathrooms and deliver mail. I make sure everything looks accordingly and I set up for the games and make sure everything looks good for the day.”
Paul Thomas, a member of the tech support staff team at Fair Grove High School, mentioned how the custodial staff aids Fair Grove Schools, “An example would be when we have to turn the desktops over in Mr. Supancic and Mrs. Overstreet’s labs. That usually occurs fairly early in the summer, so we work accordingly with the custodians to plan when they will wax classrooms or hallways.”
Thomas had more to say later stating, “The Technology Department has to work pretty closely with our custodial staff, mainly in the summer. We have to plan together with them so that we and they can operate efficiently.”
Thomas said, “The impact our custodians have on our district is tremendous. They do so much work that often goes unnoticed. I am grateful for all they do for our district, staff and students.” While students do see custodians throughout the day, the bulk of their work is in the evening.
