When attending sports games like basketball, football, or volleyball at Fair Grove Schools viewers can find concessions will be open to the audience.
Concessions are a great way to help the school and raise money. Parents, along with high school students, are able to work at the various sporting events. Not only do parents and students volunteer to work but there are local businesses that try to show their support.
Addison Workman (11), a long-time worker of the concessions, stated, “Parents can volunteer for specific games/events depending on the amount of help that we need that night.”
Workman continued, “For students we take two high school students who get paid $35 a night or a game on tournaments.”
Haddon Lair (11), a loyal member to the concessions staff, added, “People can volunteer or sign up for a certain time if they want to watch the game, or they can work the entire time if they would like to.” Shifts are never set to specific times that parents or students have to do. It truly depends on if the volunteer would like to watch the game, or how much help they need that night.
With students and parents working together so much, volunteers can start to build a friendship with one another. Lair explained, “Concessions can help you learn a new concept of friendship and family.”
Oftentimes the people in attendance to the game will typically pay with cash, but the concession offers different payment methods such as debit and credit cards. When asked about the popularity of the purchases, Workman stated, “Honestly, it has to be Dr. Pepper and Popcorn but really there’s a different popular item every game you never know.”
The concession brings a variety of selected snacks and drinks to the sporting events. Damon Seiger, the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Fair Grove High School stated, “I feel like they are very well run and give our spectators and supporters a good variety of options.”
The concession stands provide a welcoming environment and addition to the sporting events around the Fair Grove schools. Concessions are always open to students and parents willing to volunteer for the school’s community.
