In February of this year, Fair Grove High School Boys and Girls Basketball and Cheer seniors were recognized in the Fair Grove Senior Night events.
Senior Night for the Basketball teams is held twice a school year in order to recognize the senior basketball players and cheer members. “It’s a great night to honor our seniors that have given so much to our basketball program and our community,” said Boys Basketball Head Coach Bryan Tucker.
This year’s seniors for the Girls Basketball team were Hannah Maxwell, Taylor Green, and Allison Findley. The Boys Basketball seniors were Tyler Barnett and Blake Winterberg. The Cheer seniors were Grace Trehal, Piper Logan, Jeri McDougal, and Cheer Captain Hannah Bruner.
Senior Night for the Girls Basketball team members was held on February 15th with the team playing against Strafford High School. The Boys Basketball and Cheer Senior Night was held on February 6th against Buffalo High School. Cheerleader Jeri McDougal, however, was recognized with the Girls Basketball seniors due to being unable to attend the February 6th Senior Night.
Senior Night is aimed specifically to show appreciation for the senior players and to recognize their years of playing for Fair Grove. It is “a special night dedicated to reminding our seniors that their impact on our programs will not be forgotten. It is a chance for us to say thank you and to congratulate them on overcoming all of the obstacles and challenges they had faced to get to where they are now,” stated Boys Junior Varsity and Freshman Basketball Head Coach Jalen Supancic. “It is also a great opportunity to let them end their home careers on a great personal note, inviting their families and friends to celebrate along with them,” he added.
Many of the seniors plan to attend college after high school and to continue to participate in various sports. Since Senior Night the Varsity Girls Basketball season ended with a 25-7 record and a State Championship win. The Varsity Boys Basketball team ended their season with a 21-7 record while the Cheer team will begin practice for the 2024-2025 school year this upcoming summer.
