Amy Johnson has been a teacher at Fair Grove High School for 22 years. She creates a positive environment for students and helps with Prom, NHS, and the blood drive.
While Johnson currently teaches Government, Psychology, Sociology, and Advanced World History. She has previously taught Geography, Contemporary Issues, and World History.
Johnson explained her passion for other classes, “I LOVE to teach Geography, we are going to bring back a version of it next year.”
Johnson is a very involved and active teacher. A current student of hers, Baily Carll (12) shared, “Mrs. Johnson is very much like a step mother or aunt figure. She does everything: NHS, prom, blood drive; and is always making food in her room.”
Carll continued on how Mrs. Johnson is always prepared, “If you need something mended, she can sew. If you need plastic eating utensils, she has a closet full of that stuff. She’s considerate, and offers students chances to let them know how they feel about her, and how she can do better.”
Macklen Johnson (10) is one of Johnson’s two children. Although he hasn’t taken any of her classes so far, he explained that next year he will be taking her Government class and the positive way that she impacts students.
Macklen expressed, “Mrs. Johnson is the nicest person ever. She could not know a single thing about you and still treat you like a close friend. My relationship with [her] is extremely close, I have an advantage because I am her son, but she would still be very close to me even if she wasn’t my mom.”
Throughout her years of teaching, Johnson has formed close relationships with her students. Her way to acknowledge students has helped them in many ways.
Carll shared, “She is a favorite teacher of mine. I have taken all of her classes… As a person who struggles with autism, I appreciate her willingness to be accepting and understanding of any accommodations I have needed in order to be successful.”
Being involved in many clubs, Johnson has made both an impact on students as well as many memories. Macklen shared, “My favorite memory of Mrs. Johnson was seeing her enter the gym during an assembly and the entire gym room screaming and cheering for her. To see that she influenced that many people was amazing.”
Throughout her years working here Johnson has not only made close relationships with students, but also with the staff at Fair Grove. Johnson said, “I love being an Eagle. I feel a strong sense of family at this school and in this community.”
