For the past 21 years, young elementary students at Fair Grove have been under the education of Amy Crandall. Her career has brought up many young eagles through the first and second grade.
For over two decades, Crandall has dedicated her time and energy to educating the youth of Fair Grove schools. Her efforts have changed the lives of many elementary students and fellow teachers throughout the years. For 20 years Crandall taught the first graders until recently deciding to move teaching to the second graders.
According to Crandall, she has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Math and Animal Science from SMSU (currently MSU). She also has obtained a Masters Degree in Leadership and Curriculum Instruction from Evangel University.
Crandall explained, “My most favorite thing about teaching at Fair Grove is my students, their parents, our staff, and the supportive community. I love the family atmosphere here at Fair Grove. The school and community have together built a culture where everyone wants what’s best for kids. I am so lucky that I get to be a part of it. “
For the past 20 years, Tammy Lucas has been a fellow teacher and coworker of Crandall. Lucas said, “Mrs. Crandall is always positive and loves the kids of Fair Grove. Some of my favorite memories are every year here and I would be at school late at night together decorating our rooms for the upcoming year.”
Aside from her teaching career Crandall loves spending time with her family and friends. Crandall has three daughters that all attend Fair Grove. Crandall said, “You can usually find me at some type of ball game or tournament watching my girls play sports. They consume most of my time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We like to travel and spend time at the lake if we aren’t at a sporting event.
To Crandall, teaching is all about building relationships that can last a lifetime. Crandall stated, “My favorite memories are the ones that I have made with co-workers and my students. Whether that be singing and dancing in class, late nights working with teacher friends in the summertime, field trips, class parties, weekend trips with teacher besties, and day to day interactions.”
Furthermore Crandall stated, “Being a teacher is one of my biggest blessings in life. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your students and former students succeed. I get to see the progress and growth of my students as they learn and develop over the years of school and into life.”
