The Fair Grove High School “Galaxy Far Far Away” junior and senior prom was held at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center on May 4, 2024.
Some prepared with their friends. Riley Frazier (11) said, “I always get ready with a group of friends, and it’s so much more fun than getting ready alone.”
Some were not as prepared as others. Collin Emery (11) stated, “I was so unprepared for prom. I didn’t plan to go till the day of, and I didn’t even know where it was held. I also was very lazy with my outfit and incredibly underdressed. It was fine though, it was quite fun.” Emery added, “I was so last-minute that I emailed Mrs. Johnson and asked if I could pay at the front. She agreed, but I ended up being an hour late because I went to the school at first!”
Jayden Rice (11) mentioned that his favorite part of this year’s prom was hanging out with his friends and driving around in fast cars. He also recalled that his favorite part of the previous year’s prom was eating all of the snacks that were provided.
Students loved many different things about this event. Emery said, “I had a blast dancing with my friends! The vibes were on and the songs were bussing, but I think my favorite part was afterwards when my friends and I went and got Andy’s custard nearby.”
Frazier said that she most anticipated getting together with her friends and making memories with them at the dance. Rice said that he most looked forward to an after party with his friends.
A few were underwhelmed, but still had a great time. Emery said, “I was really excited about the food they would be serving, but sadly there was none so I was a little disappointed. The venue was really good though, definitely better than having it in the cafeteria. That would have been lame.”
For some “plus ones,” it was their first prom together. Frazier said, “I’m going to prom with my boyfriend, and I’m excited to go with him because it will be our first prom together.”
What excited Emery the most about this dance, was being a part of many different groups of people, and not anyone specific. He also enjoyed getting souvenirs from the event.
Rice mentioned that he had a very fun time being around his friends and getting themselves ready before prom.
