The 2024-25 Fair Grove High School Girls Basketball have played in many tournaments and games throughout their season. The team continues on their journey to win state for the third year in a row.
Currently, the varsity record stands at 11-3. Their head coach is Gary Greene, and the assistant coaches are Kayley Frank, Dani Kepler, and Jeremy Faubion, who are aiming to claim another state championship title. Quincy Williams (11), said, “We just need to continue working hard and stay focused in practice.”
The Pink and White tournament, hosted at Drury is a yearly tournament that the Fair Grove Basketball girls participate in every year. This year, they won each individual game that they played in and overall won the tournament. Quincy added, “My favorite memory so far from this season would definitely be winning the Pink and White this year!”
The junior varsity girls basketball team is going to play in the Morrisville tournament that lasts through 1/11 to 1/18. They will play a variety of teams, including Strafford, Buffalo, El Dorado Springs and more. Kynlee Peck (10) explained, “I have a goal this season for our JV team to win the Morrisville tournament.” This is their last tournament of the season, and will last seven days.
The Fair Grove Invitational Tournament was hosted early in the season in December, from the 2nd to the 6th, in the High School gym. The girls basketball team won, winning all three of their games that they played, which were against Mt. Vernon, West Plains, and Logan-Rogersville.
With the pressure of winning another state championship back to back, players have expressed that even though it will be a challenge, they are ready to work hard and put in the effort to win again. Peck stated, “I do think the Varsity will be able to reach state this year.”
Overall, their season has come with many successes and challenges. With a current in-season record of 11-3, and winning first in the Pink and White tournament and the Fair Grove invitational.
With the hope to win the state championship title for the third year in a row, they will continue to go through the season and push to get to their end goal. They have 8 in season games left before districts and their next upcoming games are in the Nixa Invitational Tournament on January 23rd through the 25th.
