The Fair Grove Lady Eagles basketball is looking to rebound after a season full of adversity. “Coming off an 8-18 season, we have left lots of room for improvement this year, and that is what we are hoping to do,” says Head Coach Jenny Talbert. The Lady Eagles graduated four Seniors last year, but they also had two key players out due to injuries as well. Fair Grove brings back one Senior, Katelyne Cloyd. Cloyd is a 5’11” post player who brings down many rebounds for the Eagles.

There are eight Juniors stepping onto the court for the 2014-2015 season. Some familiar faces from last year are Kaitlyn Jeter, Emily Hopkins, Kelli Oplotnik, Casey Baker, and Kennedy Argenta. Bailey Weaver will be running the point guard position this year. Weaver, along with Kirsten Carver, was out with an ACL tear in the 2013-2014 season. Weaver says, “I am looking forward to getting back with my team on the court, and I want to prove how hard I have worked to come back better than before.” Casey Baker and Kelli Oplotink are will be two Junior guards helping to handle the ball this year along with Kirsten Carver. Kaitlyn Jeter has been a 5’6” post player for the past couple of years, but she is also being looked upon to step out to the three point line and knock down some shots for the Eagles this year. Jeter ended the season with 93 points and 19 3-point shots according to Coach Talbert. Emily Hopkins will also be another threat inside at 5’11” who ended last year with 22 points and 41% from inside the paint.

Coach Talbert and the Lady Eagles have already been preparing for the new season. The girls have pre-season work outs every Tuesday and Thursday that started October 7th. Talbert states, “we are doing pre-season condition and scrimmaging to get in shape because I want to play an up tempo game. I want to push the ball and out hustle other teams.” The Varsity girls not playing a fall sport are also doing an off season session at The Courts, and try-outs will begin November 3rd
