4th Grader Gets First Bow Kill

4th Grader Gets First Bow Kill

Kyle Cavanaugh, Asst. Senior Spotlight

Hayden Carver, a fourth grader, got his first bow kill on September 22. He attends Fair Grove Elementary.

Carver was hunting near his grandpa’s house in Fair Grove with his dad, when he saw a deer walk in front of where they were. It was a “really big doe,” commented Carver. He says he plans on eating the deer. Carver added that he was using an Infinite Edge bow, with the drawback weight set at 42 pounds.

Before he was able to shoot the deer, Hayden says he had to sit and wait in silence for 15 minutes because the deer saw them, and they didn’t want to scare it away. When he shot it, he says he felt “really excited.” “I almost started crying,” he added.

“It’s awesome to see such a young boy achieve such a big goal in life!” says Kayla Bearden. Bearden added that she has known Carver for four years, and that she was very proud of him.

417 Bow Hunter, located in Springfield, Missouri, wants Carver to come on the show and hunt with them. He says he is still considering their offer, and is unsure whether or not this will take place.  Additionally, there is a video of Carver killing the deer on Whitetailoverload.com.

Bowhunting season ends on November 14th with gun season to start on November 15th.
