The Fair Grove Football season comes to an end after a loss Friday, October 24 to Ash Grove. Fair Grove was defeated 20-7 with their touchdown coming from Senior Dylan Lucas. Lucas ended the season with 7 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown for the Eagles. Lucas also had 4 interceptions throughout the season. Lucas was the leading receiver for Fair Grove with 22 receptions for 182 yards.

Fair Grove Football added three new coaches to the coaching staff this year including head coach Bill Voorhis. Voorhis said, “My expectations for this season were for us to improve on our record, while getting our program established and laying out the standards and expectations we have for our players.  I feel like we accomplished both of those goals.  We improved from 2-7 regular season to 5-4 and I think the kids are starting to understand our system and what is expected of them both on and off the field.”

The Eagles’ offense was led by Sophomore quarterback, Brayden Lumley. Lumley said, “my goal this year was to win more games than last year and I’m glad we accomplished that. I’m also glad I learned to be a better leader for my team.”  Lumley threw for approximately 619 yards and four touchdowns. He also was the leading rusher for the Eagles with 570 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.

Steven Slater led the defense in tackles with 62 tackles while Wyle Potter led the team in sacks with four sacks. Voorhis said, “this season I learned a lot about my kids and what they are capable of.  Next year we will have a better starting point to begin our season than we did this year.  Fair Grove football players are capable of so much more and we have high expectations for next season.”
