In this season’s 2014 Pink & White Tournament The Lady Eagles made it to the semifinals in the consolation side of the Pink bracket. Although they lost to Aurora, they battled hard in the second half, but they just couldn’t win the game, Aurora won 62-53. Coach Talbert, head coach for the Lady Eagles, says, “I was disappointed with our effort against Aurora, but I feel like we learned a lot from the game.” Their first game of the tournament was played December 7 against West Plains, they lost the game 41-56 which put them into the losing side of the Pink bracket. On December 29, they came back strong with a great win over Spokane beating them 58-45.
Kennedy Argenta says, “We got better at playing as a team but we need to work on being a strong team the whole game.” They lost to Aurora on December 30 and the score of the game was 62-53 ending the tournament for them. Argenta added, “I think that we should have done better, but it leaves room for improvement for the rest of the season ahead.”

Emily Hopkins said they played good competition, but they still need to work on playing more than one good half of basketball each game. She added that she think that they will be ready to compete in districts this year. Hopkins says that although they lost some games it was fun to play bigger schools and playing bigger schools helps make them better too.

Coach Talbert said, “We need to be ready to go from the start each game. We can’t dig ourselves a hole and expect to come back. We are working on being more aggressive and being more consistent or four quarters.” She also adds that she is proud of the progress they have made so far this season and she feels that they can continue to improve, she is looking forward to playing their best basketball as they head into conference play.

Conference play for the Lady Eagles started on January 5th 2015 and Districts starts as soon as February 21st and will continue throughout that week.
