On December 6th the middle school girls played their last game wrapping up the season.  They have had a very successful season with the eighth grade holding a  record of 11-4 and the seventh grade with 14-2. Coach Green is very satisfied with the turn out the group has provided “We were fast, played a tough defense, moved up and down the floor, and we worked hard the entire season,” stated Green.

This year the team believes that Catholic and Stafford were the toughest competitors. Catholic has some strong shooters. The team says they are good players but the girls can definitely compete with them.  The girls have beat skyline three times this year, a great improvement from last year. Coach green believes that the eighth grade girls have a lot to contribute to the high school team next year. According to Coach Green some players to watch out for are Alana Findley because she is athletic and she is an all around good player. Other players include Sydney Fullerton and Alexsus Rust because they are quick guards and play some tough defense. Harley Maxwell is a strong post. Green believes these girls will be important to the high school team next year. Harley Maxwell stated, “We had a pretty great season this year.”

The girls competed very well in the Strafford tournament. The 7th grade took home first place in the tournament for Fair Grove. The eighth grade placed 3rd in the tournament. Leah Weaver hit a three pointer at the buzzer giving Fair Grove ending the “nail-biting” game with a win. The 7th grade team have won two games by scoring in the last five minutes of the game.

The season has come to a close but the girls are already preparing for next year. They will be having shoot outs and camps that will keep them sharp over the summer. The season will start up again next October.
