FFA Students Place in Area Screening Event

Four Fair Grove FFA members applied for their State FFA Degree. Fifteen areas in Missouri participate, each area selects a person who will be an applicant for the star award.

The four senior classmen selected were Jessica Cobban, Cody Heavin, Zane McCurry, and Lynsey Rector. Cody Heavin was selected to be the Star Area in Placement. Zane McCurry was placed as the Star Area in Ownership. They were chosen as the top two FFA members in their area out of twenty-four Missouri schools and will be competing at the state conventions.

Many FFA students from Fair Grove also competed for Proficiency awards where they will show their livestock, crops and jobs. Twenty-five schools participate in the competition and eighteen applicants came from Fair Grove High School’s FFA team.  The students who placed 1st will be competing at the State FFA convention in April.

The students who received 1st placed first were Lynsey Rector with Agricultural Communications and Goat Production, Cody Heavin with Beef Production, Jessica Cobban with Equine Science, and Kaily Beckner with Small Animal Production.

The State FFA Degree, the second highest degree available, will be awarded to the FFA Member in April at the state FFA convention held in Columbia, Missouri.
