The Fair Grove Girls basketball team wrapped up this year’s season after their game against Buffalo, on February 26th. After falling behind by 11 at half-time, the Eagles failed to pull ahead. Jennifer Talbert, the Lady Eagle’s coach talks about their opponent, “Buffalo went on to win our District Championship. They are a very talented team and will probably go fairly far in the state tournament.”
Aside from that particular game, the Lady Eagles played several schools bigger than them in numerous tournaments throughout the season. This including the Pink & White tournament against Strafford, which the team lost. This was one of the team’s biggest rivals, and considered a big let down. The Eagles, however, also had several important wins this season. One of these being Marionville, a team in which the Lady Eagles had lost to, two years in a row.

Another game considered a very important win this season was the Eagles battle against Stockton on the 21st, the team’s last home game. Not only was that the last home game, but it was also senior night for the Fair Grove Lady Eagles, as they lost Katelyne Cloyd, the team’s only senior. “Many people doubted us in this game”, states Casey Baker (11), one of the team’s varsity players, who later comments, “But we put up a good fight, and came through with a huge win.”

“Overall we had a very good season. We surprised a ton of people and won many games that no one thought we would,” states Coach Talbert. “It’s exciting for next season since we only lose 1 senior. Katelyne Cloyd will definitely be missed though. She was a tremendous leader and was a great all around player for us.”

Katelyne Cloyd also talks a little bit about how the team developed over the course of the season, “Throughout the year we played better and better with each game, and cleaned up a lot of little mistakes.” Later, she also comments saying, “I’m going to miss playing with such a great team that had so much talent.”

After 17 wins and 10 losses, the Eagles have concluded this year, and are prepared have an even better season.
