The Lady Eagles began their first practice on Monday, March 2nd with Head Coach Stacy Beckley and Assistant Coach Cayse Overstreet. Fair Grove’s softball season is being held in the Spring, instead of the Fall this season.

Coach Beckley has high expectations for this year. She knows they are a younger team, but she believes that they could finish on top of their conference and go far in districts. “Shyan Proctor (9) and Jordan Coddington (9) have been coming in for about a month and working with pitching coach and with the catchers,” says Beckley. They had open field on different occasions to work on hitting, throwing, and fielding. Proctor is excited to play with this team because it will be a new experience since she is just a freshman.

Since softball season is in the spring, Beckley says rain outs are going to be a concern for them, but she is excited because volleyball players that had to choose between the two sports get to play. “Haley Stallings (11) will be a big addition to our team,” comments Beckley. She looks to Stallings, Lorin Weaver (10), and Cailey Barnes (10) to be the leaders of this team because of their hard work and high expectations for themselves and the team.

She wants to increase and improve their running game this season. “The freshman and sophomore are very aggressive and go-getters”. They will set the tone for the next couple of years says Beckley. Camie Sims (10) is looking forward to playing new teams.

They start off the year with a MLC Tournament in Marionville on March 21st. Their first game is scheduled on March 24th against Seymour starting at 4:30.
