Donna Wilson has taught at Fair Grove Schools for twenty years. She’s taught in a few different positions, but seventh and eighth grade English is what she is most familiar with. Aside from teaching, Wilson has a variety of hobbies, including: reading, gardening, traveling, and much more.

One of Mrs. Wilson’s many interests is in music. The song “Hallelujah” by Rufus Wainwright is one of her favorites. Although she has an eclectic music taste, Wilson’s genre of choice is traditional Irish music. She and her husband of thirty-six years are in a band similar to this kind of music, the band called “Stormy Weather.” Her role in the group is playing the rhythmic guitar, at a variety of locations. These include weddings, local restaurants, and other venues. “Stormy Weather” will be performing studio live on station 91.1FM, on March 13th.

Another interest that Mrs. Wilson deeply cares about is nature. She thoroughly enjoys many outdoor activities. She has an all organic garden, and cans the vegetables that are produced. She loves long walks by the river with her three dogs. Fittingly, her favorite color is green.

Wilson also mentioned that one of the most incredible things she has done was traveling to Ireland with her husband, who is a graphic artist and musician. They took a ferry to Tory Island, and were allowed to stand atop of a light house. The trip lasted about ten days. In addition to Ireland, Wilson has also been to six of the states in America.

Other than gardening, traveling, and music, Mrs. Wilson enjoys reading. One of her favorite authors is Wendell Berry, who typically writes poetry and a numerous amount of essays.

Aside from her hobbies and interests, one thing that Mrs. Wilson would like everyone to know is things will always get better. The main reason she loves teaching and has done so for so many years is because she loves the interaction and relationships she builds with her students. She likes watching them grow up and seeing what they will end up doing with their lives. Sadly, she will be retiring from Fair Grove Schools in the next two years. Mrs. Wilson advises everyone to be eager to learn something new.
