The Fair Grove volleyball team has won the MLC, by winning every conference game they played this season. Coach Tonya Peck was very pleased with the way her team played and is looking forward to the finishing the season out strong. Coach Peck is happy with some of her new talent this year, such as freshman Alana Findley, who has proved she has what it takes to play varsity volleyball.

Coach Peck does have some returning stars this year including Jorden Stacey and Haley Stallings who are both all-state players and last years kill leader Victoria Fishback. “All of this years seniors are going to be leaders this season,” said Coach Peck, “I am going to miss having all of them on the court next year.”

One of the team’s goals this season was to beat Strafford, which they did successfully, twice. “Strafford is a major rival and it is always good to get a win over a rival,” Coach Peck stated. Some other goals for the Eagles were to improve on last years record of 25-7-2 and to make a post-season run to get to the state tournament which they succeeded at 2 years ago. The Eagles worked all summer long to try to achieve this goal such as going to a few volleyball camps such as Pitt State and Lake of the Ozarks. They practiced and worked out through the months of June and July in preparation for the season.

The team started the season showing signs of what was to come, going 7-2 and the only losses coming from the Branson tournament where the team competed against very big schools. “We played very good for how hard the teams were, it was a good opening tournament,” said Peck. After the strong start, the Lady Eagles continued to come out strong, and are currently 28-3 on the season, including winning the Ash Grove and Stockton tournament.
Districts begin 10/20, and will be hosted by Fair Grove.

Editor’s Update: The team finishes 28-3, after beating Skyline in the first round of Districts (2-0), and then losing to Strafford (2-1) in the District Final.
