In 2013, Morgan Kensinger, Fair Grove’s Student Body Assemblies Chair and Valedictorian, graduated. Now a junior, Kensinger has been attending Evangel for three years, majoring in biology and pre-med.
After college, Kensinger is ruminating on attending medical school. She also stated that she would absolutely love to get a job at a hospital in Springfield in the future, but also wants to travel on many medical mission trips.
Kensinger has gone on a very life-changing experience since she graduated. In 2014, she traveled with her aunt on a medical mission team to Pierre Payen, Haiti and observed and worked in a hospital for a week. Kensinger helped around the hospital with whatever needed to be accomplished. Some of the things that she did were aid in some surgeries, and helped organize medical supplies. After some days in the hospital, she also volunteered in an orphanage. The trip impacted Kensinger so much that it made her want to become a doctor. Kensinger came back to the United States with her aunt and continued college along with her volleyball career.
During Kensinger’s senior year, the Fair Grove volleyball team had a record of 32-6. She was a middle hitter and led the team with 295 kills, 137 blocks, 73 digs, 42 aces, and 33 assists. Kensinger was also named 1st team All-State in Class 2, 1st team All-District, 1st team All-Conference, 2nd team All-Region, and Southwest Missouri’s Female High School Athlete of the Year. At the end of her senior year, she received a scholarship to play volleyball at Evangel, and her team is doing exceptionally well this year.
The Evangel volleyball team has a record of 35-4, the best record that they have had, so far. They are also ranked 9th in the nation. With an impressive record like this, a team must work very well together. “I think that trust and friendship are the most important components of a successful team. Thankfully, our team has both things!” explained Kensinger.
Kensinger is living in a dorm on the Evangel campus and is loving meeting new people. She stated, “I have made so many great friends just by meeting people at dorm events. It’s pretty amazing to live in a building with so many women who share the same beliefs as I do. I feel so blessed to be where I am.”
With an admirable high school career, and a promising college career, Morgan Kensinger will continue making an impact on the Evangel volleyball team.
