Audra Harmon, middle and high school music and choir teacher, is excited for the things that will come of this year’s high school Honor Choir. While the boys’ section has remained the same, the girls’ sections have welcomed many newcomers and have seen a huge increase in participation, there are 30 girls to be exact. Newcomer Lyndsey Wall (9) comments, “So far my favorite part about choir has been caroling because I enjoy sharing our love for music with others.” The boys have shown that they have no problems working together and singing just as loud as the girls can.
Second semester is competition time which means putting in a lot more work, and with more work comes more stress. Mrs. Harmon adds, “It is one of the busiest and most stressful times of the year, but we always pull off an amazing performance at competition with both solo and small ensemble as well as at large ensemble.”

This year’s band has welcomed two brand new drum majors, Courtney Patten (11) and Jane Elliston (9). While the band has had some tough competitions and always has room for improvement, Corey Lile, band teacher, feels like overall they did well in competitions.

Second semester for the band also means more work. For the past five years the band has been able to maintain receiving a one at state and that’s exactly what they plan on doing for this year. This spring they will take on the task of performing many difficult pieces to put on a good concert.
