The Fair Grove golf team had districts on Monday, May 2nd which went very well. Thomas Breummer, a sophomore at Fair Grove, shot our low score, 91, and Jayden Kensinger, also a sophomore, had a score of 103. These scores qualify both of them for sectionals. Shain Lahey, a freshman, missed the cut by stroke with a score of 104. All together the Fair Grove golf team has had a great season getting better as the year has gone on.
Some key players on the Fair Grove golf team are Jayden Kensinger (10) , Thomas Bruemmer (10), Carter Crews (11), Shain Lahey (9) , and Emily Derrick (12). Bryan Tucker, the Fair Grove golf coach, commented on how their season went as a whole,¨This season has been great. We have very steadily improved as a team and our team score has decreased in every tournament throughout the season. We are consistently shooting below 400 as a team, which is an improvement from last year.¨ Tucker also quoted that he loves being a coach because he loves watching the kids steadily improving, and that he loves having a great group of kids.
Carter Crews, a Fair Grove junior, has had a very impressive career since his freshman year. “My seasons have gone okay so far, I placed 9th at the Buffalo Tournament which isn’t too bad.” Crews also commented that his greatest accomplishment was getting 2nd in the Marshfield Tournament last year.
Overall, the Fair Grove golf team has had a pretty good 2015-2016 season, with Kensinger and Bruemmer qualifying for sectionals. Hopefully, they will do well enough to qualify for state.
