The Fair Grove High School Fishing Team is looking forward to reeling in big wins this season. After last season, at the team’s first tournament with none of the members placing, they had a lot of room to improve and they did just that throughout their first season. They are looking forward to seeing what’s in store this season.

This year will be the second year for the Fair Grove Fishing Team to attend competitions and compete since sponsors, Francene and Ron Marchant started the program at Fair Grove High School. The team is open to anyone grades 6th-12th, and has both a fall and spring league. Sponsors host meetings every Thursday at Hilltop Pizza and Grill in Fair Grove at 6:30 pm.

Last season, team member Cameron Fetterhoff (10) finished 10th out of 155 boats. Austin Sisco (10) and Cameron (10) were rewarded with a 500 dollar scholarship which can be used at a college of their choice for finishing in 10th place overall. Another member, Lake Marchant (11) was also rewarded 250 dollars to also be used at a college of his choice.

The team competes in tournaments from 6:30am to 3:00pm giving the team lots of quality time. Cody Sisco (12) says, “I like the competitiveness and the friendships we create at the competitions.” The tournaments take place at Table Rock Lake, and Lake of the Ozarks. Also in the Spring the team competes at Stockton and Table Rock lake.

Junior, Lake Marchant, says that the team has set some goals to learn more about the sport and getting to work better overall as a team and being consistent with their finishes. “A personal goal of mine is to win,” Marchant adds. The team has competitions on October 16th taking place at Table Rock State Park and November 6th at Indian Point Marina.
