Jolt’s Fifth Quarter

Amanda Orr

Jolt, a club sponsored by teacher Jon Foster, hosted a 5th Quarter on Friday, September 4, after Friday night football. This was put on behind the softball field and ended at around 11:30. The whole event, including pizza and drinks, was 100 percent free! Students also participated in a nuclear football game played and soon after heard a speech from Superintendent Mike Bell.

Nuclear football was the main game that attracted everyone to 5th Quarter. Kelly Misemer (10) commented, “My favorite part was getting to play football with friends.” More people attended this year’s event than in the past. They outlined the field with glow sticks, and used a glow in the dark football. Student were split into four teams; blue, pink/orange, green, and purple. The green team ended up taking first.

After the epic nuclear football game, everyone gathered up into the softball bleachers to hear Superintendent, Mr. Bell, speak. Beau Sumner (12) mentioned, “The game was fun, but it was interesting to hear where Mr. Bell is from and how he got to the place he is today.” The main message of the speech was that no matter where you’re from or what you do you can still ask to be saved. Mr. Bell went on to say that there is no right way to be saved. After the speech, Mr. Foster said a prayer over the student body and all of the participating students. Two kids gave their lives to God that night.

Kelly Misemer (10) added, “I’m in Jolt because it gets me focused on God in the morning.” Mr. Foster is the main speaker for Jolt. He will read and talk about a bible verse, pray at the very end, and pass out candy to everyone that comes. If you would like to speak at Jolt, then go to Foster’s room and sign up. Jolt meets every Thursday morning at 7:45am in the courtyard.
