Middle School Cheer

Cheer leading is the performance of athletic skills, jumps, dance, and chants to gain a response from spectators. It is an exciting sport that is alive and thriving in Fair Grove. Every year the high school cheer squad is above average and a lot of that is due to the middle school cheer program that helps install the fundamentals needed to have a exceptional squad every year.

The middle school cheer squad is coached by Chalise Shockley who also teaches kindergarten, “I enjoy being the middle school coach because the middle school cheerleaders have a great desire to learn and work hard. They have a good attitude and are excited to support our school.” stated Shockley. The middle school cheer squad is meant to build school spirit and prepare the girls for a chance to cheer on the High School cheer squad. The MS (middle school) cheer squad accomplishes this by teaching the girls to work together and teaches them the basic stunts and cheers that build a great cheer squad.

The goal of the MS cheer squad is not only to promote spirit and fun but to also become good members of the community “our cheerleaders will become strong athletes, bold leaders, and positive contributors to our community.” said Shockley. Junior Bailey Chandler, now a highschool cheerleader, says “ middle school cheer helped me transition into high school cheer by getting me used to the crowd watching me.”.

The MS cheer squad cheers at all middle school basketball, football, and volleyball games. The MS cheer program is a great activity for any student to join and participate in to have fun, promote school spirit, and become a better community member.
