Fair Grove basketball plans to continue where it left off. Garrett Kesterson, Dalton Cloyd, Evan Fullerton, and Lorin Weaver are all seniors on either the boys or the girls basketball team and plan on leading their teams to victory once again this year. The boys basketball team went 26-5 last year and went on to be district champions, sectional winners and state quarterfinalists. The girls basketball team went on to be 18-7 last year.
The key players that Coach Tim Brown believes will play a crucial role this year are the trio of seniors that are Garrett Kesterson, Evan Fullerton, and Dalton Cloyd, alongside junior Steven Huskey who coach said “played in a lot of big games in his career already. He had a super sophomore season and we are expecting him to be even better this season.” All of these players have played in big games during their time here at Fair Grove and are raising the bar for our basketball program every year.
Lone standing senior Lorin Weaver will hope to continue where she left off last year. Being the only senior on the team, other players will look up to her for leadership and to help them out when they all need it. The Lady Eagles suffered losses to Logan-Rogersville and Mount Vernon, with the Rogersville loss comming down to just two points with the final score reading 55-53, Logan-Rogersville. The Lady Eagles bounced back after that loss by defeating Chadwick 60-48.
The season has just begun and both teams are off to a great start. The next scheduled boys game is on Decmeber 16th at Fair Grove. The Lady Eagles will be playing in the Pink and White tournament December 27th-31st.
