The Fair Grove Soccer season ended Thursday, October 19th when the team finished second in the district tournament. This was the second time that the team had won in districts for the entire history of the program. Head Soccer Coach Joseph Florez said, “I felt great about our season. If anything we overachieved, due to our teams attitude and work ethic.” The team’s hard work definitely paid off because with a record of 15-7-1 the team tied their record for most wins in a season. “We also tied the most goals we’ve ever scored in a season,” added Coach Florez.

The Team Captains were Brian Carroll, Ryan Padgett, and Garrett Potter. “They were our team leaders, they helped us stay composed, play with class, and showed the underclassmen how to play the game the right way,” stated Florez. The most improved players this season were Kamron Stacey and Griffin Merillat. “Kamron went from being a quality player on our team, to one of our most important guys and a first team all district player,” said Coach Florez, “Griffin also came a long way, going from a bench player as a freshmen, to one of our starters.” Kamron Stacey attributed his improvement to improvement to his senior defence and his motivators, specifically Alex Brewer and Coach Florez.

Florez stated that his favorite moment in the season was beating Fatima 4-1 in the district tournament, which was the soccer program’s second district win ever. Coach Florez added that that win allowed the team to get back into the district finals which was a big goal for the team. Coach Florez also mentioned some other key moments throughout the season such as beating Parkview 2-1, winning against Greenwood 1-0, and beating Crocker 4-3 in overtime after being down 3-0 earlier in the game.
