Fair Grove huddles up during a time out

Volleyball has had a good season this year. They ended with 24 wins, 5 loses, and 2 ties. They have also done very well in tournaments this year. All of these games have led them to this year’s districts. These games helped prepared the girls for what they had been working towards all season.

This season the girls won the Ash Grove Tournament for the tenth consecutive year. They placed third in the Willard tournament, which is tougher than most tournaments. All of their loses came from Willard, Rogersville, and Carthage. The team won on their senior night against Forsyth making them the Mid Lakes Conference champs. Making it this far in the season they had accomplished a lot and hoped to continue making history.

Going into districts they had a first round bye. Another advantage they felt they had was having all upperclassmen on the varsity roster. This roster consisted of Alana Findley (12), Harley Maxwell (12), Macey Stallings (12), Shannon Collins (12), and many more players. “To prepare for districts we worked on specific drills in practice to focus on our weaknesses,” claimed Alana Findley.

In the first district game they played New Covenant Academy. They were able to beat them in the first two sets 25-12 and 25-16. This win advanced them to the championship game against Strafford. Fair Grove had played Strafford in the past this season, beating them after three sets. This time around the Lady Eagles weren’t able to pull it off, losing after two very close sets. They ended 25-23 and 25-22, Alana Findley said “I think we played well and left our hearts on the floor.”

The Fair Grove Lady Eagles played well this season. After districts they were 25-6-2 this year. They accomplished a lot, but just weren’t able to keep the season going in districts. They hope to keep making history in the future as a program.
