Music is an important aspect in many people’s lives. We listen to music when we get ready in the morning, in the car and even when we’re watching TV. Music can change your mood, enhance creativity, and be a way to express yourself. So, being able to make a good playlist is important to any modern life.

The first step of creating a good playlist would be having a theme for your playlist and having a good creative name that goes along with it. For example “To the Love of My Life”, a playlist full of your favorite sappy love songs, or “Things You’ve Never Heard of and Things That I Love,” a playlist of indie music. Adding a good name sets it apart from other playlists and makes you want to listen to it more often.

When you compile the songs there are many things you want to think about. The amount of songs, the feel of the songs, and the structure of the playlist. You want to have enough songs that you aren’t listening to the same ones over and over, but not too many where you never make it through the playlist. 30-50 songs works best.

Another thing to think about is if the songs don’t feel similar and don’t have the same effect it could throw off the whole playlist. But at the same time you still want to have a variety of songs. Add new songs along with some older ones too. With that being said, the structure is important too. You don’t want to listen to the playlist on shuffle all the time. As you add songs to the playlist make sure you put them in an order where they flow together nicely.

As a final point, in order to have a good playlist it’s important to feel the music and be able to connect with it. Picking songs that mean something to you can make a good playlist into a great one, while being sure to keep your theme and structure within the playlist. Above all, it is your playlist and having the perfect playlist can make anyone’s day better.
