Every year in the Fair Grove Middle School past clubs are continued and new clubs are made for the overall benefit of the students while under the supervision of multiple different sponsors. With an upwards of 10 clubs kids have multiple options for after school occupations.

One of the newest clubs of the 2019-2020  school year is kindness club soon to be named, “kids being kind” which is under the supervision of Mrs. Lepold. Kindness Club is for students from 5th to 8th grade looking to promote kindness and compassion through service projects. These acts of kindness include an upcoming “Socktober” event where the club collects hats and socks for underprivileged families. In addition, they are doing a “random acts of Kindness” event from November 3rd to December 19th. The Kindness Club meets every other Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Applications can be found in the Middle School office for students interested.

The club TRUE (Teens Reaching Unbelieving Eagles) is a christian student lead club that focuses on positive encouragement and is under the supervision of Mrs. Bryce. Every week a student volunteer hosts the Lesson/Conversation. Themes often include Bible search games, Trivia, Devotionals, or a song the student wants to share. “I believe this helps the students begin their school week with a positive outlook,” Says Mrs. Bryce. TRUE meets every Tuesday for 10 minutes of conversation and encouragement to start off the day.

Speech and debate is a club lead by Mrs. Champion that strives to improve its members public speaking abilities and confidence. Every Wednesday Speech and Debate meet for about an hour of practice. The club is often working on competition pieces for tournaments in the spring located all through southwest Missouri. “Kids learn the value of good communication,” said Mrs. Champion. She also explained that it helps bring students out of their comfort zone, enables them to think on their feet (improv), and gives them experience with speaking to a wide variety of people.

Student council, another club lead by Mrs. Champion, is in charge of planning events such as the Haunted Harvest, the Spring dance, and various other service projects and fundraisers held throughout the year. “Student Council is all about getting students in leadership positions to help make our middle school a better place,” explained Mrs. Champion. In addition, they practice organizational and planning skills to become a more responsible students and eventually, adults. This year’s student council meets every Thursday during 8th hour.
