On February 19th of 2020, rappers Trippie Redd and Russ dropped their newest single, The Way.

The song is on the deluxe version of Trippie Redd’s album, A Love Letter To You 4. The original version of the album was dropped on November 22nd, 2019. The album originally had 21 songs. When Trippie Redd dropped the deluxe version on February 21st, 2020 he added 8 more songs.

As for Russ, this is one of the first singles he has dropped since his newest album, Shake The Snow Globe, came out on January 31st, of 2020.

Right off the bat, the song grabbed my attention. It starts off with an iconic meme, so I already love the song.

From there it goes into a drum beat that stays consistent throughout the majority, if not all, of the song. It is accompanied with some mellow and bass. It really fits the whole sad love song/rap vibe Trippie Redd has been putting out in his music lately.

The song isn’t really repetitive, but the verses are a wee bit short, so the chorus is closer together than in most songs. With that said, it makes the song seem way longer (well, that and the song is sort of slow and mellow).

I also really like the chorus because the first line is sung like normal, but all of the lines afterwards are edited to seem like an echo. A lot of artists don’t implement aspects like that into their songs. I think that’s one of the reasons Trippie Redd sticks out more than other sad rappers to me.

All in all I really like this song. This song has a chill and sad vibe to it, which is my vibe. I also love both Trippie Redd and Russ’ singing voices so much better than their rapper voice.
