Fair Grove Volleyball had a stunning record since the season started, all the hard work paid off in the District Volleyball Championship against El Dorado on October 25, 2022.

Brooke Daniels, the sophomore varsity setter explained, “My expectations going into the district game were very high. We had been working all season for this game, and to get to this point.” Daniels also said that her team set goals to meet by the time of the District Championship.

During the championship, Daniels described what her mindset was like on the court, “During each set, I was just trying to focus on the next play. Volleyball is such a mental sport, and if you think about what just happened, then you’re already behind on the play that’s going on currently.”

In the district championship game against El Dorado, Fair Grove Volleyball pulled out a prominent win, winning three out of the four sets. When the last point struck on the court against El Dorado, Faith Klindworth, the varsity junior libero, explained the feeling of winning, “After the last point, I had a feeling of relief, optimism, and overwhelming excitement.. I was just soaking in the moment with my teammates.”

Daniels added, “When the ball hit the floor for the last point, it was an insane feeling. The whole gym just exploded into applause and it was truly an amazing moment. Coach Peck just started crying, because of how proud she was of us.” \

Klindworth explained her favorite thing about the team, “My favorite part about the team is how much fun we have. We are constantly dancing with each other or picking on each other but we also have each other’s backs.”

Daniels talked about the passion within their team, and her expectations for the sectionals, “What I noticed most about my teammates was that every single person on the floor wanted that win, it took everyone.”

Despite falling to a strong Strafford team in the State Semi-Finals, the Eagles’ 30-win season and District Championship success show that they have one of the best programs in the area.
